Preparing to Stay the Night in a Hotel
Majority of the time we will be spending the night before the flight in a hotel room depending how early we will need to meet up with the flight nanny day of the flight. Prior to us staying in the hotel room, we will put out our travel playpen that they will be sleeping in at the hotel. This allows them to grow comfortable before hand by exploring it. This travel playpen is much smaller than their nursery here at our home, so it is a big change for night time sleeping.
Preparing Them to be Comfortable in the Travel Carrier
Aside from helping them feel at ease in the smaller portable playpen, we also work on familiarizing them with our travel carrier. Similar to the approach with the portable playpen, we leave the travel carrier out for them to investigate. This allows them to become comfortable and accustomed to the carrier before the car trip to Calgary.
On Our Way to Calgary
We will contact all the buyers whose puppies will be transported with us to Calgary, either the day before or the day of the flight. We will send a picture of the puppy before we leave, and a text message once we have arrived and the puppy has settled in. If we are staying in a hotel, we can also send a short video of the puppy, if the new owner would like that. Please let us know in advance if you would like a video.
Handing Off to Flight Nanny
We kindly request that our puppy buyer either creates a group text conversation with us and the flight nanny, or has the flight nanny directly contact us so we can make arrangements for the puppy's pickup location in Calgary. A release form will be provided for the attendant to sign, stating that they have taken responsibility for the puppy until it reaches the new owner and that they have received the puppy pack items for the new owner. The flight nanny must sign a release form before leaving ZimmDoodles' care. This form serves as proof that the nanny has now taken responsibility for the puppy until it reaches the buyer.
